Chris & Deb are hopeful adoptive parents from Ohio waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

As we write this letter, we have been trying to imagine what this would be like for you – flipping through letters and pictures, trying to get the information you need to make a decision that will map the course of your baby’s life. Whatever the outcome, please know we respect your position and have taken a lot of time to think about you and the emotions involved on your end, the physical and mental toll this would have to take on you. We believe you will make the best decision for you and your baby because you are the person best equipped to do so.
About Deb
I have lived all of my life in the Cleveland area. I had a wonderful childhood! My dad worked for a local newspaper and my mom stayed home with my sister and me. My dad took us on fantastic camping vacations every summer to the Mohican River; they are some of my favorite childhood memories and to this day are the source of many hilarious (and occasionally embarrassing) family stories. In elementary school, I met a group of girls who have become my lifelong friends. As adults, we try to get together at least once a month. Three of the five of us have children and its fun to get the kids together to play. Whether it is taking the kids to a movie, roller skating or shopping, it is great to have my friends with me.
I graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in 1995 with a double major in political Science and Business. I am currently attending BW to attain my Masters Degree and will be finishing in another year. I enjoy school, and will ensure our children have the opportunity to attend college if they chose to do so.
I work as a Supervisor at National City Bank’s Exceptions department. I have about 50 associates that report directly to me. I have been with National City for six years. I enjoy my job and enjoy working for NCB. It is a good company with good benefits. It will also allow me time off to spend with the new baby.
In my spare time, I enjoy scrapbooking, gardening and spending time with my family and friends. I also love spending time with the family pets. Our two dogs Otis (age 7) and Missy (age 5) and our cat Abby (age 11. I enjoy taking the dogs for walks and would love to add a stroller to those walks!
About Chris
I also lived in Cleveland all of my life and most of my family still lives in this area. My brother lives close by and my sister lives about two hours away. She and her husband have four children, who we get to see several times a year.
While I have always had Cleveland as a home base, in a previous job I had the opportunity to travel to several different states. I was able to spend time in Florida, Boston and Kansas City - just to name a few. After Debbie and I were married, I decided to take on a new job that would cut down on the travel so I could spend more time at home. I currently work as a manager for a retail store. I enjoy the day-to-day challenges of running a retail operation.
I enjoy golfing, fishing and painting. When we started the adoption process, I decided I wanted to paint a mural in the baby’s room. After a lot of discussion, we decided on a Madagascar theme and I have been working on it in my spare time. Golfing and fishing allow me to spend time outside. I also enjoy golfing so I can spend time with friends. I also have a group of friends that I have known for many years. I am an avid sports fan for all Cleveland teams, but enjoy the Cleveland Browns the most.
I am close to my family. Both of my parents about 20 minutes away. My dad and I get together for brunch every few weeks. My stepmother Carol is wonderful! I see her often as she loves to scrapbook with Debbie. My mom works a lot during the week, but I try to see her every few weeks over the weekend. She will be retiring soon so she can spend more time with her grandchildren – both my sister’s children and the children Debbie and I hope to have one day.
About Us
We met through a mutual friend in 1999. Chris proposed while we were on vacation in Jamaica and we were married on December 8, 2001. We live in a suburb about 20 minutes outside of Cleveland. It has a population of around 19,000. We are part of a school district that has almost 8000 students serving various cities. There are two high schools, two middles schools and seven elementary schools.
Family is very important to us and we are fortunate to have a very close family. Debbie’s parents live about five minutes away and her sister and family live about 20 minutes away, so we are lucky that we can see each other regularly. We spend a lot of time with our niece Elizabeth (aged seven) and nephew Alex (aged three). They come for overnights at our house and we love watching them change and grow! Debbie’s two grandmothers are still living and we see them fairly often as well. Family traditions are very important to both of us and we celebrate birthdays, Christmas and Thanksgiving with our family.
We enjoy going Cleveland Indians games together, traveling, or just spending the night at home watching movies. Our friends and family are very important. We have an active life and enjoy spending time with others.
We are lucky that Deb’s mom is retired and will be our primary daycare provider while we are at work. Like all of our family, she cannot wait to have this opportunity. Both Chris’ family and Deb’s family is excited to welcome a new baby into our lives.
We would like to have an open relationship with our child’s birth family. As the baby grows, we believe it is important for him or her to know about their biological parents. This can include letters, pictures and emails.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We know you are going through a very difficult time. You show a lot of courage and strength to go through this. We hope with this letter and our photo journal, you will have enough information to make the right decision for your child. Thank you for considering us.
