Derek & Carrie are hopeful adoptive parents from Oregon waiting to adopt a baby.

We Have Been Blessed by Adoption Dear Birth Parents,

Thank you. Thank you for being courageous enough to place your baby for adoption. We know that this is the hardest choice to make. We recognize the strength and wisdom you have and know that you will be blessed in your life. There are no words to express the gratitude that we feel for you and the choice you have made. We know that you, your baby and we will be forever blessed by your decision. We know firsthand the blessings of adoption. Thank you for considering our family to adopt your baby.

We have been married for 12 ½ happy years. We met soon after Derek’s mission and knew we wanted to be together. We married six months later. We have a great relationship and are best friends. During our marriage we have been able to do many things. We graduated from college, adopted two cats and a dog, bought a house, worked and traveled. But by far, the best and most important thing we have experienced was the adoption of our daughter Hannah. We would have welcomed children into our family at any time, but Heavenly Father had a plan for us. Through fasting and prayer we discovered that our family was to be created through adoption. It has been a spiritual journey that has created lasting bonds between our family and Hannah’s birth family. We are looking forward with anticipation to adding more children to our family.

Meet our Family Hannah is our precious daughter. We think she is amazing! Hannah has two dimples when she smiles and those smiles make our hearts burst with joy. She has added life and love and fun into our home. Hannah has recently discovered the outdoors and loves to be outside, going for walks, racing around the backyard, picking flowers and helping Daddy in the garden. She loves animals and thinks that our black lab, Stella, is her best friend. Hannah loves to read books and she is curious about the world around her.

Carrie is a former pre-school teacher, who is now a stay at home mom. She loves it! She loves watching Hannah grow, explore and develop. Carrie loves seeing the world through Hannah’s eyes and enjoys spending time with her. Carrie also loves to read, travel, run, practice yoga, hike, bike, snowshoe and scrapbook. She likes all kinds of music. Carrie enjoys studying art and she is trying to learn to sew something more than straight lines. She is looking forward to adding another child to the family and having that much more love in her home.

Derek is a dentist who works with families and children in his practice. He enjoys interacting with patients and helping people. Derek loves being a dad. He loves coming home and playing with Hannah. Derek enjoys sharing his interests with Hannah. He likes helping her explore new things. Derek also likes to paint, draw, backpack and travel. He is training for a triathlon and hopes to one day run a marathon. Derek is also looking forward to adopting another baby.

Family Time Our family loves to spend time together. We waited a long time for a child to join our family and we appreciate the time that we have together. We love to play outside, go for walks, and visit the zoo, the library or just hanging out. We love to be at home together and we love to travel together. Derek and Carrie have traveled within the United States, South America and Europe. As a family we have traveled within the States (Hannah likes airplanes!) and are planning her first trip overseas. We want all of our children to see the world with us.

We have a large extended family and we enjoy spending time with them. We gather for meals, games, birthdays and holidays. Hannah and her cousins enjoy playing together and all of the children are doted on by the loving grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins nearby. Our families were very excited for us to adopt and they can’t wait for us to be able to adopt again. We care deeply for our families and have close relationships with them.

Our membership and faith in our church is important to us. Its principles guide us in our daily lives and encourage us to be better people. It has given us opportunities to love and serve others. We teach the gospel and love that Heavenly Father has for us in our home.

Thank You We know that raising a child is a gift and a blessing and we strive to fulfill that awesome responsibility. We will love, nurture, protect and provide for any child that joins our family. We will teach all of our children to be people of honor and integrity and to make the world a better place. We work hard to be the best parents we can be and provide support and opportunities that will help the child feel loved and secure. We will support them as they make their choices in life. We strive to make our home a place of peace, safety and love. We have found that the best way to parent is with lots of love, rules and consistency.

We have been fortunate to have our lives blessed through adoption. It is a special way to build a family. We have been lucky enough to create relationships with Hannah’s birth family that we treasure. We know that every circumstance is different and we look forward to creating a unique relationship with you. We are open to developing a connection through pictures, letters, visits, in the way that you are comfortable with. We feel gratitude and love towards you and want the child who joins our family to know of your great love towards them and your sacrifice for them.

Thank you again for your courage and strength. We know that this decision takes faith. We admire you. We know this is choice you do not make lightly. Please know of our sincere love for you and our desire to love and raise a child. We have so much love in our hearts and cannot wait to fall in love with the child that comes into our lives. Thank you for considering us for such an important role in your baby’s life.
